What stays on your device

Abroadle has no accounts. Your games, streaks and settings are saved in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. Clearing your browser data resets them.

Analytics

We count anonymous events such as a game being started, finished or shared, so we can see which puzzles people enjoy and whether they come back. These events are not linked to your name or email.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies, and it identifies a visit with a hash that resets every day, so it cannot follow you across days or across other sites.

Advertising

The site is free and paid for by ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and opt out of other vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. In US states with privacy laws, you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information with the “Do not sell or share my personal information” link that appears on the site.

How to play

Round 1: the word

Guess the five-letter word in 6 tries. After each guess the flaps turn to show how close you are.

  • P is in the word and in the right spot.
  • N is in the word but in a different spot.
  • The grey letters are not in the word.

Round 2: the map

Every answer belongs to one country. Find it on the map: tap a country (pinch or scroll to zoom) or search by name. You have 4 tries.

Each miss only tells you how warm you are. Ice cold is the far side of the world; boiling means you are next door or share a border. No distances, no directions.

  1. Ice cold
  2. Cold
  3. Warm
  4. Hot
  5. Boiling

Miss the word and it is revealed, so you can still play the map.

Hard mode

Letters you have found must be used in every later guess. The map gives you 3 tries instead of 4.

A new daily puzzle arrives at midnight, your local time. Practice and the archive are always open, even offline.
